Brief
I worked with the author of these booklets which are aimed to help students learning to speak Esperanto, and we came up with not only this first edition cover, but a framework of designs that would work across multiple editions, skill levels, and puzzle types. The first booklet is now available on Amazon.com
Process
I completed this project remotely, collaborating with the client through Canva whiteboards to share drafts and ideas. We began by outlining the key requirements for the cover, including both content needs and Amazon’s formatting guidelines. From there, we developed drafts and refined the designs, ultimately creating covers that aligned with our colour matrix system.
As we began designing the first cover, it became clear that the author planned not only additional editions of the word search book but also other types of puzzle books in the future. To ensure the series felt cohesive while still allowing readers to easily identify each title on a bookshelf, we developed a colour matrix. This system used carefully selected colours and stripe patterns on the spine to indicate both the edition and the type of puzzle book. The results can be seen in the visuals above and below.
Outcome
The final cover followed our colour matrix, featuring a spine tag and front label that clearly identified it as part of the Word Search series and the first volume. Its vibrant, playful design was created to capture attention and appeal to the target audience. This book is now available for purchase on Amazon.
